The plug-in is failing to upload the media file? it showing the error message “Media error upload failed due to invalid system settings”

Sol: - The problem might be in the FTP locations set by the Blackboard Administrator. The problem will also occur if the path of the shared directory on the blackboard Server is wrong or is incorrectly spelled. Please verify these settings before the saving in the database.

2

At the time of the installation the plug-in the Blackboard Learning Management system is throwing a “Jasper Exception”.

Sol: - The problem could be because the Administrator could be installing an already existing Plug-in on the Blackboard Learning system. The plug-in should at least differ in their Version numbers so that system could detect the difference between the plug-ins.

3

I am getting a Database Error. What could be the problem?

Sol: - If this error is displayed at the time of uploading or streaming the media file then there is a possibility that the table which is created in the Blackboard database could be deleted. To rectify this, user should click on the link rendered in the Tools section of System Admin Panel. This will create the table again if it’s deleted and after setting the appropriate FTP locations and Streaming details the problem will be resolved. If the problem persists then please contact your System Administrator immediately.

4

I can access the plug-in without any authentication.

Sol: - The plug-in checks for the authentication of the Blackboard Learning System. If a user is a valid Blackboard User then he/she can access the Plug-in according to the User rights given by the Blackboard Learning System.

What files can I upload with the Media Files?

Sol: - There are 2 basics file formats supported by the plug-ins. The Media with text plug-ins support .txt format only. The media with PowerPoint supports .ppt.

The media formats supported by the plug-ins are Windows Media formats i.e. wmv and wma, Real Media Formats such as rm and QuickTime Media Format such as mov.

6

What if I change the media Streaming settings?

Sol: - The new uploads that the User will be carrying out will have these new settings. If the media streaming settings have changed even for the older uploads i.e. the server IP is changed which used to store media then the older files will not be streamed.

7

I get Validation Error :: Please Enter Valid File Name. What could be the problem?

Sol: - The path of the Media File could be incorrect or if the File that has to be uploaded is over a network then the network path could not be found or as the user selected the file it was deleted by some other user on a network.

8

What happens to the Links for LIVE Streaming and CHAT before and after the Scheduled Date?

Sol: - If the Content Viewer clicks on the links created for LIVE Streaming or CHAT before the scheduled Date then a message will be displayed that will tell the User that LIVE streaming or CHAT Session is scheduled at the future DATE.

Similarly, if the Content Viewer clicks on the links created for LIVE Streaming or CHAT after the scheduled Date then a message will be displayed that will tell the User that LIVE Streaming or CHAT Session was conducted on the Scheduled Date.

9

What is the significance of specifying Threshold Bandwidth?

Sol: - The Threshold Bandwidth will decide whether the Plug-in will play the High Bandwidth Media File or the Low Bandwidth Media File. in other words the Building Block during runtime determines the Bandwidth of the client Internet connection and checks that against the Threshold set by the Administrator of Blackboard and plays the either the High or Low Bandwidth file.

For this the HIGH and LOW Bandwidth file should have same name so that they are identified.
