Go Standard - Streaming Media Plug-Ins
A Building Block Partner of Blackboard Inc, TechShastra has
developed Edu Go - a series of Streaming Media Plug-ins for the
Blackboard Learning System running on both Microsoft .NET and JAVA Platform.
These Building Blocks help Institutions to upload and stream Audio/Video
contents related to various courses conducted by them.

Go - ARVCHIVED Media with Text Plug-In
This Plug-In facilitates uploading of Media and its associated Text
content. It provides an interface to stream the uploaded media content and
displays the associated text content with it. The Blackboard system
administrator has the rights to change the settings related to uploading and
streaming of the media content. He can also set the threshold bandwidth
required to distinguish between a high or a low bandwidth media file. The
Plug-In has a feature in which the Content Creator has the option of selecting
any one of the six layouts mentioned below:

Note: The above layouts are named with respect
to the position of the Media Player in the Plug-In.
Process Involved
The Content Creator provides the media files that are to be
uploaded on the FTP servers and the associated text content which are stored in
the database. On successfully uploading the media files and text content a link
is created in the Blackboard Learning System. To view this uploaded media and
text content, one has to click on the link generated in the BlackBoard Learning
System. The media file is then streamed from the server and the associated text
content is displayed adjacent to it as per the layout selected by the content
creator.
Note: The Plug-In uploads both HIGH
BANDWIDTH & LOW BANDWIDTH media files which has to have the same name. The
network bandwidth at the client’s end is detected by the Plug-In and if this
bandwidth is greater than the threshold Bandwidth (which is set by the
administrator) the HIGH Bandwidth media file is streamed otherwise the LOW
Bandwidth media file is streamed.

Go - LIVE Media with Text Plug-In
This Plug-In facilitates the streaming of LIVE Media with its
associated text content on a scheduled date. The Blackboard system
administrator has the rights to change the settings related to streaming of the
LIVE media content. The Content Creator has been provided with the flexibility
of changing or canceling the date on which LIVE streaming has been scheduled.
The Plug-In has a feature in which the Content Creator has the option of
selecting any one of the six layouts mentioned below:

suitable date of his choice for LIVE streaming. Further to which he has to
provide the associated text content. On successfully uploading the text content
a link is created in the Blackboard Learning System. The LIVE media and text
content can be viewed only if the content viewer clicks on the link generated
in the BlackBoard Learning System on the scheduled date.

This Plug-In facilitates uploading of Media and its associated
PowerPoint content. It provides an interface to stream the uploaded media
content and displays the associated PowerPoint content with it. The Blackboard
system administrator has the rights to change the settings related to uploading
and streaming of the media content. He can also set the threshold bandwidth
required to distinguish between a high or a low bandwidth media file.
